Discover Amsterdam with Air France

As the capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam has everything you need for a perfect trip. There are lots of museums and monuments, romantic canals and nice shops to wander around. Located to the West of the country, the town is located below sea level - two metres to be precise. This situation is quite curious in itself. You would never notice it when walking down the centre's streets though, as the architects succeeded in creating a pleasant and charming atmosphere.
Whether you prefer to explore local riches or are planning a business trip, you can travel with Air France thanks to its many regular flights. Departing from London, your flight will land in Schiphol airport, located just 20 minutes away by train from the centre.

Visit Amsterdam

There is so much to do in Amsterdam! Depending on the length of your stay, you can explore the main tourist sites or discover less well-known but just as astonishing places. A number of museums can also be visited. Among them, some cannot be missed: the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum museums for instance. The first presents the life and works of the famous Dutch painter. The second will enable you to travel through local and artistic history - with Rembrandt and Vermeer in the lead.

The town's markets are also worth a walk around. You can, at the same time, discover the town's many neighbourhoods - each with its own personality. The De Pijp neighbourhood is home to the Albert Cuyp market, where you can find everything and anything - from food to home appliances. In the Singel canal area, you can visit the flower market. The flowers are sold from the houseboats along the canal. As for the Noordermarkt, it can be found in the Jordaan district. Organic products and antiques are displayed, in a unique atmosphere. Just behind the Town Hall, you will find the Waterlooplein - the city's largest local flea market.
Once you have made all your purchases, you can relax on one of the city's beaches. Indeed, it will only take you a few minutes to join Strand Zuik, Dok or Strand IJburg and laze on the terrace and waterfront. If you enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere along the canals, you could also go for a cruise along them.

Lastly, to check off everything on the list, why not discover some of the city's most astonishing houses? Make your way to the Oude Hoogstraat and visit one of the smallest local houses, whose façade measures only slightly more than 2 metres - 2.02 to be precise. You can have a cup of tea there, as the house is also a tearoom. Another tiny dwelling is located at Singel 7, with a façade barely measuring more than a metre. !
Lastly, don't forget the medieval city right in the centre, Dam Square and the Wester Kerk with its mighty bell tower.
