Greater Vancouver streets are beautified with 37,000 cherry trees. The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival is a free event that celebrates cherry blossoms every spring and offers musical performances, art exhibitions, and crafts sales.
Imagine 40 large cherry trees, in full blossom, on a barge pulled by a tugboat up False Creek, and you will have a small idea of the wonderful spectacle this event offers on the water. Indeed, events on the water are the highlight of the festival, enriched as they are with a flotilla of dragon boats, fanfares, rowers, yachts, and pleasure boats. Each landfall is a pretext for a musical performance. On April 16, from noon to 2:00 p.m., after the parade of the fleet from Science World to Granville Island, Tetsu Taiku & Tzo'kam, Kutapira, and the Langley Ukulele Ensemble will perform in the market.
The next day, at the same time, the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra will officiate before the ‘Blossom Barge' returns to Science World.
