If you like very tender and delicious steak, a stop here is a must. Installed on Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, you won't be alone in a restaurant that seats 600, but an army of waiters will take good care of you. The setting is classic, with an emerald green ceiling, wooden chairs, and crisp, white tablecloths.
The owner, who comes from a family of butchers, knows what he sells. The perfectly selected cuts are cooked to taste and accompanied by a multitude of sauces and original side dishes. They highly recommend not overcooking your chosen steak, as South African meats are much lower in fat than meats in Europe and the US. Twenty tonnes of steak are served every month here. The menu also offers lamb, pork, and seafood, but takes little account of vegetarians.
An excellent choice of wines is on hand to accompany the great dishes. With panoramic views of the square, you'll feel like Johannesburg is right on your plate. Here the food is authentic and you can tell.
