Although a little eccentric, it is well worth visiting the Fondazione Prada. Designer Muccia Prada and her entrepreneur husband, Patrizio Bertelli, opened this 19,000-square-metre foundation in a former distillery. Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas redesigned the existing buildings and completed the other spaces, creating a labyrinth in which you can happily lose yourself.
Go up, go down, go from a small room to a large plateau wherever you are, the art is always stimulating. The foundation brings together classic and contemporary works in all disciplines, including film.
Above all, do not miss the room with the gilded tower called the 'haunted house', which is dedicated to Louise Bourgeois. The coffee bar, La Luce, is a great place to take a break from all the art; Muccia Prada persuaded filmmaker Wes Anderson to design it. Fusing formica and colour with a vintage Milanese café aesthetic, it is a true movie set!
