Discovery of the Orient at the Arab World Institute

The Arab World Institute (AWI) presents the richness and splendour of Arab cultures and civilisations.

Moments from the Jardin Tino Rossi, home to the Musée de la Sculpture en Plein Air (Outdoor Sculpture Museum), where you will find an exhibition of works from the second half of the 20th century, stands an astonishing building, to say the least, with mashrabiya-covered facades. Welcome to the Arab World Institute, a unique place that aims to establish and maintain close ties between Eastern and Western cultures.

The four floors of the Institute, which was inaugurated in 1987, invite you to discover all the various aspects of Arab cultures: arts, language and literature, science, religion, society… With its themed layout, the museum explores the long history of these thousands of years-old civilisations. Wander into a reconstructed Eastern city, before discovering the many examples of Arab-Muslim beauty. This diverse collection, the many temporary exhibitions and links to other museums will immerse you in a unique and colourful culture. An enriching time that will take you on a journey.
