2. How long does it take?
This will depend on the role for which you are applying but we aim to reply to all applications within two weeks of receiving them. Where there is high volume recruitment, it may take a little longer but we guarantee that you will always receive a reply from us.
3. What happens to my application now?
Your application will be screened by the relevant HR department and will then be reviewed by the recruiting line manager.
4. How long is my application valid for?
If you have not been successful, we will still keep your application on file for 6 months, should any other suitable vacancies become available. If you do not wish us to keep your details on file or contact you regarding other vacancies, please let us know in writing.
5. What if I have a problem downloading the application form?
Please send an email to the address given on the job vacancy for which you would like to apply and we will send you the application form by email.
6. Do I have to fill in the electronic application form as well as send my CV?
Yes, the application form provides us with additional information, which may not be included in your CV.
7. Am I able to make a speculative application?
No, we would ask that you only apply for roles advertised on the website.
8. Who is eligible to apply?
We will only accept applications from candidates who currently have the right to work in the UK and / or Ireland. Please only apply if you feel you have the relevant knowledge, skills and competencies required for the role.
9. How useful are language skills?
The importance of language skills will depend upon the role for which you are applying. If they are required, this will be stated in the details of the vacancy and may then attract a language allowance payment as well. Normally, language skills will be required for roles in our European Sales and Service Centre.

12. How do I apply for a position within AFSL, the Heathrow Ground Handling company?
Application forms are available from the AFSL Administration office in Room 324, Office Block, Terminal 2, London Heathrow airport and should be returned to this office once completed. If there are no current vacancies, applications are kept on file for six months and may be considered if a suitable vacancy becomes available.
13. What is the recruitment process?
If you have been chosen for the selection day, you will be contacted by the relevant HR department and advised of the date and selection process. Our process normally consists of a competency-based interview and one or two other assessment exercises which are related to the role for which we are recruiting, such as presentations, work situations or group exercises. If you are successful at this selection day, you may in some cases be invited back for a further second interview. If you have not been successful at application stage, you will receive an email from the HR department within two weeks.
14. How do I prepare for the selection day?
You should carefully read through the job description, particularly the knowledge, skills and competencies required and think about your previous roles and experience and what you can offer. You should also think about what you expect from the role and any questions you may wish to ask on the selection day.
15. How do I know if I have been successful?
On the selection day, we will give you timescales as to when you can expect to receive an outcome from us. We try to make selection decisions as soon as is practically possible but, in some cases, this may take longer, particularly if we are unable to see all of the candidates on the same day.
16. Will you pay for my travel expenses to the interview?
No, we do not reimburse travel expenses. However, we may reimburse some expenses to candidates travelling from abroad for second level interviews.
17. Where are the offices based?
This will depend on the role for which you are applying. Please refer to the vacancy details for information about the location.
18. Are there any parking facilities?
There may be parking facilities at some locations. If you need a parking space when you attend the selection day, please contact the relevant HR department in advance to find out if this is possible.
19. What if I have a special requirement due to a disability?
If you have any special needs at the application or selection stage, please contact the relevant HR department in advance, who will be happy to offer you assistance or advice.

21. What training opportunities are available?
This will depend on the role but any specific training required will be given at the beginning of the induction. This will either consist of classroom training or on-the-job training. Ongoing learning and development opportunities are regularly discussed with your line manager.

23. How would my performance be appraised?
Your progress would be monitored both informally, in regular discussions with your line manager, and through an annual performance review; this would be linked to your annual salary review. The Performance Review is an opportunity for you to discuss your performance against objectives, skills and competencies for the past year and to set clear objectives for the forthcoming year, identifying the development areas and support you will need to achieve them.

25. What is a work placement?
It is the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an area of the business, which is related to your studies or to a particular discipline in which you are interested.
26. What is the duration of a work placement?
Our work placements usually last between three and twelve months, depending on the internship.
27. Will I get paid during my work placement?
You will not be paid a salary, but you may receive a contribution towards your living expenses. Information about this will be given in the details of the individual work placement.
28. How would a work placement benefit me?
It provides valuable insight for those wanting to gain experience in the airline industry or in a particular area of the business. For those conducting the placement during their gap year, it gives them exposure to an international company with an excellent reputation. Air France KLM will assist you in working on any project which you have to complete during your gap year.
