Air France wins award for its new web tool; Widget
Air France is proud to have been awarded the accolade of "Best use of technology" last night at the Travolution Awards 2008. The judges described it as "innovative, slick, well-designed, convenient, fun and the clear winner in the category."
The Widget is an innovative way for the customers to receive, by simply register, the latest offers and information on destinations of their choice direct to their desktop.
Easy to install, the customer has just to register, download the tool, choose his airport of departure and favourite destinations, and wait for the next alert. Then, in just one click the customer can do his reservation and also has access to a wide range of services such as destination guides in the form of innovative videos, weather forecast, currency exchange rates and destination maps. Customers can also do their internet check in and get their boarding pass via this new tool.
The tool was developed externally by the France-based company, Djingle and the UK was chosen as the test market.
So far, Air France is delighted with the take up of offers through the Widget with over a thousand users being counted in the first weeks.
François Lebrun, Direct Sales Manager in the UK and responsible for the project at Air France, said: " I’m absolutely delighted. Winning this award means a lot to us; Widget is part of our commitment to develop not only the standard online services such as check in and Flying Blue accounts monitoring, but also more entertaining and innovative ways to attract and keep visitors on our website such as mobile phone check in and of course our widget.”
A comprehensive promotional online campaign has supported the launch of Widget by Air France including a competition on the Lonely Planet website, banners included in Air France March and April online campaigns, search marketing and more.
Customers can download the latest version of Widget here. There are vouchers to be won when downloading Widget. Users will receive a personal code to claim a £35 discount on their next flight (check website for terms and conditions). |
