Air France celebrates 25 years of flying from Dublin to Paris

This summer, Air France commemorates its 25th anniversary of flying from Dublin to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG). On 15 June 1983 Air France began operating a daily flight with a Boeing 737 aircraft on the route with 18 seats in club and 90 in economy class.

Today Air France’s subsidiary CityJet operates 7 daily flights from Dublin to its hub in Paris CDG making it ideal for day return business trips as well as connections onto the long haul network.

In 1983, Air France covered 150 destinations from its hub. Today the airline offers over 183 destinations worldwide and, together with its partner airline KLM, over 250 destinations from their respective hubs in Paris CDG & Amsterdam Schipol.

Boris Darceaux, Head of Sales AIR FRANCE KLM, Ireland said, ” Over the years, Air France’s Dublin to Paris route has proven to be a tremendous success. This year we have consolidated our presence in Ireland further and we couldn’t have done it without the support from all our customers, trade and corporate clients. “

On 4 February 2008 Air France opened a twice-daily flight between Shannon and Paris CDG. Furthermore, as a result of the Open Skies agreement, Air France now offers daily non-stop direct flights from Dublin to Atlanta and New York and from Shannon to New York, in code-share with its SkyTeam partner Delta Air Lines.

Meanwhile KLM operates flights from Dublin and Cork to Amsterdam in code-share with Aer Lingus.

In 1983 airline passengers flew using a paper ticket. As of 1 June 2008, in compliance with IATA, all Air France and KLM flights are e-ticketable; part of the airline group’s commitment to seamless travel which also includes tools such as internet booking and check-in and management of passengers’ frequent flyer account, Flying Blue.
