Today CityJet, the wholly owned subsidiary of AIR FRANCE KLM, launches a new route from London City Airport to Milan, the capital of the Lombardy region of Italy in the north east of the country. The new twice daily route, with prices from £178 return including taxes, marks CityJet’s first entry into Italy.
The CityJet route will serve Milan’s Linate airport which is the closest airport to the city. It is situated just 4 miles from the famous Duomo with swift road connections linking the centre to the airport in just 25 minutes as well as acting as the gateway to the Lombardy region.
A city of many parts, Milan is renowned worldwide as the fashionista capital of Italy with the ‘Golden Triangle’ area being home to Armani, Gucci, Ferragamo and Prada to name a few. Milan is also home to the world famous Il Duomo cathedral and houses da Vinci’s The Last Supper in Santa Maria delle Grazie. Culture vultures can get their fix of opera at the most famous opera house in the world, La Scala, whilst football fans can get their kicks watching AC Milan and Inter Milan and ‘petrol heads’ can enjoy the Italian Grand Prix in Monza.
As the gateway to Lombardy, flying to Milan is the quickest way to get to the Italian lakes region which includes lakes Como, Iseco, Maggiore and Garda. Lombardy is also famous for its ski resorts including St Moritz, Cervinia and Livigno. For those looking for great food and wine, Lombardy offers some of Italy’s finest and most famous cuisine including risotto alla Milanese, polenta, osso buco, panettone and much more.
The new CityJet schedule is perfectly timed to allow holiday makers to escape for a long weekend shopping trip, a dash to the slopes or to take in a footie match, as well as for longer trips to the Lombardy region:
